Ramadan is not only about fasting — it is also a beautiful time to nurture faith, compassion, and love for this blessed month in our children. ????
When children understand the meaning behind Ramadan, they grow up seeing it not as a restriction, but as a month filled with purpose, kindness, and connection with Allah.
Here are 5 ways to involve your child in the last days of Ramadan:
1️⃣ Read stories from the Holy Quran
Share simple Quran stories with your child before bed or after taraweeh.
✨ Why it matters: Ramadan is the month the Quran was revealed. Through stories, children begin to connect with the Quran, understand its lessons, and develop love for its guidance.
2️⃣ Make a Sadaqah Box
Prepare a small charity box at home and encourage your child to put coins inside throughout these last days of Ramadan. Transfer total amount to those in need by the end of Ramadan. If possible, do it together with your child.
✨ Why it matters: It teaches children that Ramadan is a month to practice about generosity, compassion, and caring for those in need.
3️⃣ Teach your child about Lailatul Qadr
Talk to them about this special night which is better than a thousand months and how to gain it.
✨ Why it matters: Children begin to understand that Ramadan has beautiful and meaningful moments, inspiring them to look forward to worship and dua extra during the last days of Ramadan.
4️⃣ Create a Gratitude List
Spend a time with your child to write or draw something that they are thankful for each day.
✨ Why it matters: It nurtures a heart of gratitude, helping children recognise the many blessings Allah has given them and maximise it the best way.
5️⃣ Learn about others’ Ramadan customs and traditions
Explore how Muslims around the world celebrate Ramadan — from different iftar foods to unique traditions.
✨ Why it matters: Children begin to see that Ramadan connects and unites Muslims everywhere and that they are part of a larger ummah celebrating the same blessed month.
When children are involved in these activities, Ramadan slowly becomes a month they understand, cherish, and look forward to every year. ????
What is one Ramadan activity your child would enjoys the most? ????
